Position Overview (Part-Time )

Are you a mature, grounded, and experienced aquatics professional with a genuine passion for guiding young children—specifically infants and toddlers under three years old—toward becoming water safe?

We are seeking a mature, highly experienced part-time Aquatic Team Leader to head our instructional team and oversee daily pool operations. This is a pivotal role designed for an established aquatics professional who can deliver warm, compassionate instruction to our youngest swimmers while providing strong leadership on the deck to ensure a safe, positive, and dynamic experience for our community.

You will serve as the backbone of our deck operations—responsible for mentoring, training, and managing our swim instructors. While this is a leadership role, you must be someone who loves being in the water: you will lead by example, conduct hands-on coaching, teach classes, and step in directly whenever needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infant & Early-Years Instruction: Deliver structured, high-quality swimming lessons tailored for children under the age of three, helping infants and toddlers build foundational water safety skills, gain confidence, and reach vital swimming milestones.

  • Team Leadership & Management: Supervise daily pool operations and provide ongoing guidance to lifeguards and teaching staff, fostering teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.

  • Training & Quality Assurance: Oversee onboarding, shadowing, and mentored training for instructors to ensure strict adherence to our world-class curriculum. Be prepared to get into the water to demonstrate handling techniques, co-teach, or step in as a substitute instructor when required.

  • Safety & Operations: Continuously monitor pool areas for safety hazards, enforce rules to prevent accidents, and maintain overall facility cleanliness and proper water conditions.

  • Emergency Response: Act as a lead responder in emergency situations with total composure, administering first aid or CPR-C when necessary.

  • Customer & Program Support: Act as the primary point of contact for parents, carers, and young swimmers on the deck—addressing feedback, celebrating milestones, and building a welcoming, trusting environment.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Maturity & Reliability: A grounded, patient, and professional individual who works well independently, leads by example, and remains calm under pressure during emergency situations.

  • Passion for Early Childhood Development: A big heart and high comfort level working with infants and children under three years old, supporting both the child and their parent/carer in the pool.

  • Deep Swimming Expertise: Exceptional swimming ability with absolute confidence in advanced water safety, child handling, and infant safety practices.

  • Proven Leadership Experience: Solid experience supervising, managing, or mentoring teams in recreational, aquatic, or educational settings.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Outstanding interpersonal skills to mentor staff, connect warmly with infants and young children, and communicate professionally with parents.

  • Physical & Schedule Flexibility: Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for equipment setup/maintenance, along with the flexibility to work part-time shifts, including evenings and weekends.

  • Required Certifications & Checks:

    • Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.

    • Recognized Swim Instructor Certification (or equivalent teaching experience).

    • Lifeguard Certification preferred—if you do not currently hold a Lifeguard Certification but are willing to complete it, we will support you through the certification process.

    • Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check) prior to start.

World-Class Teacher Training & Support

We invest heavily in our team! If selected, you will receive full support in gaining necessary certifications as well as a comprehensive training pathway aligned with world-class teaching standards:

  1. Shadowing: Experience live classes in the pool alongside experienced teachers to learn our specialized handling techniques.

  2. Theory & Child Development: Complete interactive theory modules covering child development, lesson planning, and progressive skill development.

  3. Practical In-Water Training: Engage in hands-on practical training covering specialized infant/toddler skills, songs, safety drills, and handling techniques.

  4. Mentored Live Teaching: Receive structured mentorship and live co-teaching experience until you are fully confident leading classes on your own.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Part-Time Pay: $22.00 – $24.00/hour (inclusive of paid training and a leadership rate reflecting your experience).

  • Training & Certification Assistance: We support our team members in obtaining required certifications, including lifeguard certification support for the right candidate.

  • World-Class Curriculum: Teach a proven, methodology-backed swim program designed specifically for baby and pre-school swimming.

  • Meaningful Community Impact: Enjoy a rewarding schedule that keeps you connected to the water while making a direct, life-saving difference for young families in the Halton community.

  • Supportive Culture: Join a team that values compassion, excellence, and continuous professional growth.

To Apply

If you are a mature, seasoned aquatics leader who loves helping young children build a lifetime of water confidence, we would love to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief introduction outlining your aquatics background and leadership experience.
Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
