Join Our Service Team
Jim Pattison Toyota Northshore is looking for an experienced Red Seal Automotive Service Technician to join our busy Service Department. This position is suited to a technician who takes ownership of their work, enjoys solving diagnostic challenges, and is committed to completing repairs safely and correctly.
You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of vehicles while working alongside Service Advisors, Parts, and other technicians to keep the department operating efficiently.
Position: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, with Saturday rotations
Compensation: $39.75–$45.25 per hour flat rate, based on certification and experience
Reporting to: Service Manager

What You'll Do
In this position, you will:
• Complete scheduled maintenance, mechanical repairs, and diagnostic work in accordance with Toyota and dealership standards.
• Inspect vehicles thoroughly and document required repairs, measurements, and findings.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns and determine appropriate repair procedures.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and recommended repairs to Service Advisors and other members of the Service team.
• Work with Service Advisors to provide accurate information regarding repair requirements and anticipated completion times.
• Complete road tests and pre-delivery inspections to verify vehicle condition and repair quality.
• Work closely with the Parts Department to obtain required components and properly handle warranty-related labeling and documentation.
• Support other technicians and contribute to maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the shop.
• Keep your work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow dealership policies, manufacturer procedures, and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
• Protect confidential customer and company information.
• Contribute to a respectful, cooperative, and productive team environment.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will have:
• Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification, or be actively working toward challenging the Red Seal examination.
• Previous professional experience working as an Automotive Service Technician.
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
• The ability to confidently drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical problem-solving abilities.
• Careful attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• The ability to organize multiple repair priorities in a busy Service Department.
• A calm and solutions-focused approach when working under time pressure.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
• Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
• Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
• Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
• Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
• Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
