Description
A term adjunct position is open at the Smith School of Business for an instructor to teach at our main campus in a lecture-style undergraduate course in the Commerce program. The position is to teach International Business and the Nonmarket Environment – Comm 375 in the winter term. Teaching Comm 375 will generally include teaching twenty-four “one-and-a-half hour” sessions from January to April 2027. The successful applicant will be required to teach 100% of one section of COMM 375 with a maximum enrollment of 55 students.
The course is described as follows:
This course introduces students to the relevant non-market actors that affect the international business environment and provides a broad range of theoretical frameworks for understanding and shaping their motivations, capabilities and strategies. Topics will include the international trading environment, political and country risk analysis, the motivations of national governments, international and national regulators, and the interaction of firms with government, industry and lobby groups. In covering a wide range of topics, this course favors breadth over depth. The course primarily draws on readings from lecture notes, classroom discussion and debate.
The open section for COMM 375 has been scheduled in the Winter term as follows:
Section 001 – Tuesdays 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM / Thursdays 08:30 AM to 10:00 AM
Compensation
The salary for a term adjunct teaching one section of a course in our Commerce program is $13,856 (excluding vacation pay). This salary is pro-rated based on course credit.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD; several years of related experience; and experience teaching university courses.
