The huskies and residence counsellor contributes to student success by addressing mental health needs through timely and accessible clinical counselling services delivered within an embedded student athletics context, in collaboration with campus support systems. This role involves working in a confidential clinical environment with students, including student-athletes, who may be highly distressed and require assessment and monitoring. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, delivering psychotherapy, and responding to crises, while supporting individuals experiencing complex and intersecting concerns such as academic stress, performance pressure, and mental health challenges. This position integrates mental health services into a high-performance athletic environment, supporting athlete wellbeing, injury recovery, and identity development. The counsellor also participates in mental health promotion, consultation with campus and athletics partners, and coordinated care planning.
