HOSA Club Advisor (High School Non-Coaching EDR)
Base Salary: $2578*
Position Summary
The HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Club Advisor provides leadership, guidance, and support to students interested in health science careers. The advisor is responsible for organizing meetings, coordinating activities and competitions, promoting student leadership development, and ensuring the club operates in alignment with HOSA's mission and district expectations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Recruit and maintain active student membership in the HOSA chapter.
- Plan and facilitate regular club meetings throughout the school year.
- Promote student leadership, teamwork, professionalism, and community service.
- Coordinate participation in regional, state, and national HOSA conferences and competitive events.
- Assist students in preparing for HOSA competitions and leadership opportunities.
- Organize fundraising activities, service projects, and health-related awareness events.
- Maintain communication with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration regarding club activities.
- Manage club budgets, fundraising proceeds, and purchasing requests in accordance with district procedures.
- Complete required registrations, paperwork, travel arrangements, and reports associated with HOSA activities.
- Ensure student safety and appropriate supervision during all meetings, events, and trips.
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for career exploration in healthcare fields.
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certificate preferred.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in health science, career and technical education, student leadership activities, or related fields.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to supervise students during after-school activities and occasional evening or weekend events.
- Experience advising student organizations is preferred but not required.
Time Commitment
- Conduct regular meetings during the school year.
- Attend advisor training and HOSA-sponsored events as needed.
- Participate in regional, state, and/or national conferences and competitions.
- Coordinate club activities, fundraising efforts, and community service projects throughout the year.
Desired Outcomes
The HOSA Club Advisor will foster student engagement in healthcare career exploration, leadership development, community service, and competitive events while building a vibrant and successful HOSA chapter that reflects positively on the school community.
*Due to the current negotiations of the Collection Bargaining Agreement (CBA), an adjustment may need to be made for your EDR stipend in the future. If so, you will be notified as soon as the CBA is ratified.
