We are looking for a motivated piping designer who is ready to continue developing their technical skills while contributing meaningfully to industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have practical experience using CAD and modelling tools to translate mark-ups, design information, and field measurements into clear, accurate deliverables. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and exposure to process fluid systems, pulp mill piping, storage tanks, compressed gas systems, boilers, power plants, or other industrial systems would be considered an asset.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, models and drawings for industrial mechanical systems such as process piping/fluid systems, storage and transfer systems, storage tanks, compressed gas systems, boiler/utility systems, and equipment layouts/supports;

  • Coordinate project models and collaborate with wider project teams to support accurate and integrated design deliverables;
  • Maintain drawing registers, title blocks, and project file organization in accordance with internal standards and client requirements;
  • Participate in site work as needed, including field verification, redlines/as-builts, and equipment and piping measurements, and incorporate findings into design deliverables;
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, designers, and construction/field teams to incorporate mark-ups, address design questions, and produce coordinated, constructible drawing packages;
  • Address drawing comments, implement design changes, and contribute to meeting project schedule and quality expectations; and
  • Prepare quantity take-offs/material lists and contribute to construction and fabrication packages.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • A diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Design, or a related program, or equivalent training that provides a foundation in industrial mechanical and piping design;
  • One to five years of relevant experience in mechanical, piping, or industrial design, including experience gained through co-op or internship placements where applicable;
  • Experience using AutoCAD is required, and familiarity with Plant 3D is preferred. Exposure to other 3D mechanical/plant design tools, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar, would be considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of industrial mechanical drawings and systems such as process fluid piping, storage and transfer, storage tanks, compressed gas systems, boilers, power generation facilities, or similar industrial assets;
  • Familiarity with quantity take-offs and material lists, with the ability to continue developing these skills;
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines; and
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites would be considered an asset.
