Psychologist 1 (TFT 1.0 FTE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological/psychodiagnostics evaluations and risk assessments for individuals with severe mental illness found not criminally responsible or unfit to stand trial to inform the Ontario Review Board and treatment teams.
  • Provide case consultation, training, and clinical supervision to staff to support adherence to forensic mental health best practices.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based forensic programs within the Integrated Forensic Program.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and validate data collection and dissemination.
  • Conduct research and program evaluation activities, including grant proposals, presentations, publications, and dissemination of findings.
  • Provide direct and indirect clinical care, including diagnostic and risk assessments, and evidence-based individual and group interventions for forensic populations.
  • Function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in academic activities, including supervision of psychology practicum students, residents, and psychology staff.
  • Demonstrate leadership and collaboration through participation in corporate, program, and discipline-specific initiatives.
  • Support continuous quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and teamwork.
  • Maintain professional integrity through adherence to College and hospital standards, ethical guidelines, professional practice requirements, documentation standards, and workload measurement expectations.
  • Work in compliance with staff and patient/client safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Foster a workplace aligned with The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment and Discrimination Free Workplace policy.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario is mandatory, those in supervised practice will be considered.
  • Mandatory Authorized areas of practice in Clinical Psychology and in Forensic Psychology.
  • Mandatory Authorized client population: adults.
  • Preference for additional Authorized areas of practice in Clinical Neuropsychology, and preference for Authorized client population with youth and seniors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and competency with integration of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices of recovery-oriented treatments, as well as core correctional practices e.g. Risk Need Responsivity Model.
  • Demonstrated competency in delivering evidence-based treatment in both individual and group formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to communicate and collaborate in an inter-professional team context are essential.
  • Maintain workload measurement and data collection as required and input into the workload measurement system on a regular basis.
  • Experience in conducting forensic research and related program evaluation preferred.

Language Requirements

  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
