The Senior Analyst, Strategy Modelling builds and maintains the forecasting, scenario modelling and analytical capabilities used to evaluate business decisions, market changes and transformation initiatives. The role combines strategic and executive decision support with the data management, system development, quality assurance and reporting capabilities required to make those insights reliable, scalable and repeatable.

Reporting within Transformation Strategy & Intelligence, this role works closely with Finance, Technology and business leaders to convert complex operational and financial data into credible forecasts, business-case simulations and executive-ready recommendations. Key Responsibilities

• Build scenario models and business-case simulations that evaluate transformation initiatives, emerging opportunities, strategic risks and investment decisions across the organization.
• Obtain, process and integrate operational, financial and market data from multiple source systems, working with Technology and data owners to ensure required information is available, captured and appropriately structured.
• Maintain and enhance analytical logic, allocation methodologies, forecasting assumptions and associated outputs, including scheduled and ad hoc reporting, dashboards and decision-support tools.
• Produce executive-ready analyses, forecasts and recommendations for Directors, Vice Presidents and Executive Leadership, translating complex analytical outputs into concise insights, strategic implications and recommended actions.
• Conduct detailed analysis of existing systems, models and business processes to identify abnormalities, data-quality concerns, control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform rigorous quality assurance, validation and reconciliation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data, analytical models and information used for executive and enterprise decision-making.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor performance and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities, risks and implications for WestJet’s business plans and transformation agenda.
• Partner with Finance, Technology and business teams to design, implement and deploy new analytical capabilities and enhancements to existing models, systems and reporting solutions.
• Own enterprise modelling methodologies, forecasting standards and analytical tools, continuously improving model accuracy, scalability, usability and decision-making effectiveness.
• Translate ambiguous strategic and operational questions into structured analytical approaches, clearly articulating assumptions, sensitivities, constraints and trade-offs.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation, including model specifications, business rules, data definitions, workflow diagrams, user guides and operating procedures.
• Support enterprise planning, investment prioritization and transformation governance by providing objective analysis of potential value, cost, risk, timing and organizational impact.

Competencies & Attributes
• Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to connect operational, financial and market inputs into credible forecasts and defensible recommendations.
• Advanced quantitative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop structured analytical approaches for complex or ambiguous business questions.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including an understanding of value drivers, business cases, investment trade-offs and financial performance.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity, quality assurance and analytical rigour.
• Ability to communicate complex methodologies, assumptions and findings in clear business language for executive and non-technical audiences.
• Strong executive writing and data-visualization skills, with the ability to produce concise, compelling and decision-oriented materials.
• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to challenge assumptions, investigate anomalies and identify alternative explanations or scenarios.
• Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across Transformation, Finance, Technology and operational functions.
• Self-directed and comfortable managing multiple priorities, analytical workstreams and stakeholder expectations in a dynamic environment.
• Highly trusted and discreet, with the judgement required to handle sensitive financial, strategic and operational information.
• Continuous-improvement mindset, with a focus on making analytical tools, models and processes more accurate, scalable and effective.
