As a Truck & Coach / Automotive Technician, you'll play an important role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of transit buses and equipment. Where Technical Expertise Supports Essential Transit Services

As a Truck & Coach / Automotive Technician, you'll work with a fleet of transit vehicles and equipment, applying diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair skills across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.

From preventative maintenance and legislated safety inspections to complex repairs and equipment commissioning, you'll play a key role in supporting safe fleet operations while continuously expanding your technical knowledge and experience.

How You'll Support Fleet Operations

In this role, you will participate in the maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of buses and related equipment while supporting preventative maintenance and fleet reliability programs. You will also have the following accountabilities:

  • Ensure completion of all documentation related to division operations as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in implementation of repair prioritization and preventative maintenance programs and servicing.
  • Participate in the development of tenders for equipment and completes inspection of same upon delivery.
  • Test, diagnose and repair computer-controlled engine and power train components, braking, electrical, suspension, hydraulic, heating and ventilation systems.
  • Perform required schedule preventative maintenance servicing on prescribed vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform and issue legislated annual and six-month bus/school vehicle safety inspection certificates.
  • Provide technical direction regarding proper operation, minor maintenance servicing and minor repairs to operating personnel as required.
  • Record and provide accurate data on repair orders regarding all servicing repairs and conditions found.

What You'll Bring to the Team

Here's what will help you succeed as the Truck & Coach Automotive Technician:

  • Must possess a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician, Code 310T, as outlined in the Ontario Apprenticeship and Certification Act (A.C.A.); and
  • Three years’ current experience as a certified mechanic in diesel and gasoline engines including heavy duty equipment, hydraulics, air brake systems, and vehicle electronics
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair electrical circuitry, hydraulic and hydrostatic systems, and fuel injection systems in a variety of vehicle and equipment types and vehicle model years
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class "G" Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
